On July 16, 2025, the Rajapalayam Young Entrepreneurs Club (RYEC) embarked on its 5th Industrial Visit — this time to one of India’s most strategically important maritime hubs, the VOC Port Authority, Tuticorin.

What started as a curiosity-filled journey turned into an eye-opening experience, bridging the gap between what we read and what the real world demands from entrepreneurs and industry leaders.

⚓ Inside India’s Maritime Powerhouse

VOC Port Authority isn’t just a backdrop of ships and containers — it’s a living ecosystem of logistics, coordination, and global commerce. With the warm support of Ms. Sheba, our members were granted access to explore the inner workings of the port, including a rare and thrilling boat ride around the harbour.

A special thanks to RYE. Vijay Raja, who not only organized the entire visit seamlessly but also made it possible for us to go on a boat ride inside the port — giving us a rare chance to view the majestic ships from the sea. It was a perspective we never imagined we’d get, and it made the experience all the more unforgettable.

Sailing close to the docked vessels and watching cargo operations up close gave us a newfound appreciation for the scale and complexity of maritime logistics. For all of us, it was their first experience seeing a port in action — from water level.

🛳️ Aboard the Ship: Learning by Doing

One of the most unforgettable parts of the visit was the opportunity to step aboard an actual vessel. We explored the ship’s interiors and got an insider view of how everything from navigation to operations is structured. It wasn’t just about seeing — it was about understanding.

Thanks to Mr. Kavin, who generously shared his knowledge, we learned how cargo is loaded and unloaded, how ship movement is managed with precision, and how every department — from logistics to security — works in sync to ensure smooth port operations.
